Church Organization
Presbyterian congregations are governed by a board of elders elected by the members. Elders are known as persons of faith, dedication, and good judgement. This governing body in the Presbyterian church is named the "Session."
Ministry Support Team
The Ministry Support Team seeks to provide a safe, comfortable environment with functional facilities for the activities and ministries at DHPC. This team oversees the use of the Church’s facilities by outside groups, keeps up the buildings and grounds, and makes decisions on insurance coverage and office technology needed to run an effective church organization. The team explores ways to implement environmentally sustainable practices throughout the Church’s operations.
Howell Adams and Ron Miller serve as co-chairs of the Ministry Support Team.
Finance Team
Finance Team Goals:
The Finance Team strives to provide fiscally responsible management of the church’s financial resources. This team makes monthly reports available to the session and makes decisions concerning investments, campaigns for special needs, and other financial and banking matters. Donna Durden is the chair of Finance.
Hospitality Team
The Hospitality Team seeks to:
Strengthen relationships in our congregation and rediscover the joy of community; and
Share the good news by inviting others to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
Personnel Team
Personnel Team Goals:
- Identify and establish the importance of Sabbath for all staff; create an environment where taking Sabbath is expected of all staff and respected by the congregation.
- Create an environment where individual gifts are recognized, positively channeled, honored and supported; equip staff with clear direction, necessary information and, where appropriate, training to allow for growth, fulfillment and maximum contribution.
Education Team
Christian education at DHPC engages disciples of all ages in nurturing their faith. Our programs provide a safe and inviting haven, where children and adults can explore, renew and grow their relationship with Jesus Christ. For more information, contact Elizabeth Adams, Susanne Safar, or Rev. David Carter Florence.
Worship Team
The Worship Team provides opportunities for worship, music, praise, and prayer to meet the varied needs of the congregation. Working with the professional staff to plan the Sunday morning worship service for the different seasons of the liturgical year, this team seeks to support the spiritual growth of members and guests with special worship occasions such as baptisms, communion, funerals, weddings, as well as monthly Taizé services.
Mission Team
The Mission Team takes its cue from Christ's directive to welcome the strangers, feed the hungry, and shelter the homeless. This team responds to those in need in our community, in our city, and around the world. Volunteers are the heart of our program. The chair of the Mission Team is J Wade.
