Meet our Missionaries in Guatemala

DHPC supports Roger and Gloria Marriott, PC(USA) missionaries in Coban, Guatemala. They  have been serving in Guatemala since January 2002. In 2006 they began to focus their work in Cobán in order to work with the Kekchis, one of 21 indigenous groups in Guatemala.

Learn more about them and their ministry, as well as the work of our denomination throughout the world.

One Great Hour of Sharing

On Easter Sunday, DHPC will receive the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering. Since 1949 Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with those in need. Your generous gifts assist those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the hungry, and help build strong communities. Learn more about how our denominations uses these funds throughout the world.

Presbyterian Mission Project in Congo

A few years ago, Presbyterian Women were involved in the Palm Project for the Democratic Republic of Congo, providing palm tree for villagers to grow for cooking oil,for home use and for sale. The project was very successful, with donations far exceeding the goal of $60,000, and many plantations are now in full operation. (Read more)

This year, DHPC's PW has been pleased to revisit the Palm Project and is grateful for the outpouring of support. We have already raised enough to purchase two bicycles that will help families transport palm fruit or oil to market.

If you would like to participate, you can give online (remember to type "Bicycles" in the comments box) or submit a check to "Presbyterian Women-DHPC" (and write "for Congo bikes" in the note section).  Thank you!

In many places throughout Congo, roads can be treacherous for vehicles, and the trucks in working condition are often too expensive for most villagers to rent. Given these restraints, the bicycle is the best way to transport goods. A family with access to a bicycle has the strongest family member push the bike from their remote village to a city market, loaded with up to 400 pounds of produce. The biker will sell the produce at the city market and buy items for the village, such as sugar, salt and clothing — and then push the bike back to the village.

Bikes of high enough quality to haul produce cost $80. With this minimal investment, Congolese families can lift themselves out of poverty. They can turn their hard work in the fields into cash they can use for education, health care and other development activities that improve their quality of life and give them a chance for a better future.

Please add one or more of these items to your regular shopping list.

CDC Board Needs You

The Druid Hills Child Development Board of Directors, comprised of both center parents and church members, is looking for a church member to join the board, starting as soon as possible. DHCDC has been a mission of the church since 1969 when it was started by some visionary women of the church. It has grown significantly since then, now caring for 145 children daily! It is a vibrant exciting place. The Board commitment involves one meeting a month with some outside committee work. The total commitment is between 2-10 hours a month, depending on current issues. If you would like to be a part of it, please contact Karin Dusenbury or Jane Weir for more information.

Community Fellowship

Community fellowship is an exciting opportunity to prepare and serve meals for the less-fortunate living in our neighborhood.  Meals are served by volunteers every Sunday at 4 pm in the shelter located beside the church.  Volunteers from DHPC are still needed for the 2nd Sunday of every odd month.  Additionally, volunteers are needed on occasion when regularly-scheduled groups are unable to attend.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Every Life Matters: Blankets and Petition

Last December, Tim Wilson froze to death while seeking shelter underneath a bridge near an affluent Atlanta neighborhood. Moved by the tragedy, local artist Laura Martin made a memorial quilt with the line “Every Life Matters.” That slogan is now also the rallying cry for a blanket drive.

Earth Care

The Presbytery of Greater Atlanta has been blessed to have a local Creation Care organization develop from within, the Earth Covenant Ministry (ECM). Druid Hills Presbyterian Church has supported ECM from the start.

In the fall of 2011, ECM announced a merger with  Georgia Interfaith Power & Light (GIPL).
